Accumulation of Radium-226 by the Freshwater Gastropod Lymnaea stagnalis L.

Exposure of the fresh-water snail Lymnaea stagnalis to solutions containing Ra226 revealed the accumulation of Ra in the shell. The concentration of Ra indicates an active transport mechanism for Ra226.
