BURST SLUG DETECTION EQUIPMENT SHIELDING--ANALYSIS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4748587
Studies were made to determine the dose rates internal and external to the BSD (burst slug detection) equipment and compressor rooms for the EGCR. Six cases based on 1000 deg C in the reactor coolant were examined. The maximum dose rate expected in the equipment room is 68 mr/hr. It was concluded that a 2-in steel slab should be incorporated in the floor design above the BSD suction vessel. The north wali should provide equivalent gamma shielding of an 8-in. solid concrete wall. The equipment rooms shouid consist of 12-in. thick ordinary concrete. (M.C.G.)
