DEPOLARIZATION OF $mu$$sup +$-MESONS IN SOLIDS (in Russian)

BS>A theory is developed of depolarization of mu /sup +/ mesons in matter, taking into account the presence of an external magnetic field. The importance is shown, for the process under consideration, of chemical reactions involving the mu /sup +/ mesons. On the basis of experimental data on depolarization of mu /sup +/ mesons in emulsions, parameters are determined that enter into the formulas of phenomenological theory, and the asymptotic trend of polarization in large fields is predicted. Certain possible mechanisms of the depolarization of an electron of muonium are discussed and the effect produced by them is evaluated. The case of media with high dielectric constant and slight frequency dispersion is considered. (auth)
