ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF IRON IN URANIC LIQUORS AND COMPOUNDS AND IN URANIUM METAL

A method suitable for the determination of Fe up to 1500 ppm in uranic liquors and compounds calculated on a uranium basis with a limit of detection of 10 ppm is presented. A HNO/sub 3/ or HCl acid solution of the sample is obtained with B(OH)/sub 3/ being added if fluoride is present. The U is complexed with citrate and the Fe determined absorptiometrically as the thioglycollate after decomposition of the uranyl thioglycollate with ammonium carbonate. (H.G.G.)
