COMPARATIVE GENERAL TOXICITY OF METALLIC IONS. RELATION WITH THE PERIODIC CLASSIFICATION (in French)

Journal Article · · Compt. Rend.
OSTI ID:4747664
The acute toxicities of 42 cations were evaluated, after intraperitoneal injection in the mouse, by the LD/sub 50/ at the thirtieth day. The ions studied were Na(I), Li(I), Rb(I), NH/sub 4/(I), Cs(I), K(I), Sr(II), Mg(II), Ca(II), H(I), ZrO(II), Cr(III), Th(IV), Mn(II), Al(III), Fe(II), Y(III), Sc(III), Pd(II), La(III), Fe(III), Ce(III), Pb(II), Co(II), Sn(II), Ir(IV), VO(II), Ba(II), Ga(III), Zn(II), Sn(IV), Au(III), Be(II), Ni(II), Ag(I), Tl(I), Pt(IV), Cu(II), Cd(II), In(III), UO/sub 2/(II), and Hg(II). The results show there is a periodicity of the toxicity values, as a function of the atomic number, analogous to that of the periodic system. (tr-auth)
