DETERMINATION OF TEMPERATURE COEFFICIENT OF SOLUBILITY OF VARIOUS METALS IN RUBIDIUM AND THE CORROSIVE EFFECTS OF RUBIDIUM ON VARIOUS ALLOYS AT TEMPERATURES FROM 1000 TO 2000 F. Topical Report, February 1, 1961 through July 31, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4746840
S>Techniques were developed for determining the equilibrium concentration of various metals in rubidium and the corrosive effects of rubidium on selected commercial refractory and non-refractory metal alloys. The equilibrium concentrations of Nb, Zr, Mo, Ti, V, Ta, Fe, Be, Cr, and Ni in rubidium were determined over the temperature range 1000 to 2000 deg F. The corrosion of Mo--0.5 Ti, Nb-1 Zr, and Haynes-25 alloys and beryllium and vanadium metal by rubidium was determined at various temperatures from 1000 to 2000 deg F in 1000-hour tests. Equilibrium concentration and corrosion results are reported and evaluated. (auth)
