Fe3+ ion Lifetime in CoO Deduced from the Auger and Mössbauer Effects

Journal Article · · Physica Status Solidi B. Basic Solid State Physics
A theoretical study is made of the Auger cascades which follow the capture of electrons by Co/sup 57/ nuclei, taking into account the Coster-Kronig transition. The mean lifetime of trivalent Fe/sup 57/ ions located at Co sites in CoO is calculated using the experimental ratio of the concentrations of bivalent and trivalent Fe/sup 57/ ions.
