FLUX FLATTENING BY VARIATION OF RESONANCE ESCAPE PROBABILITY

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4742293
Flux flattening by nonuniform fuel loading and nonuniform moderation was proposed. It is noted that the use of nonuniform moderation usually causes P, the resonance escape probability, to vary in most practical reactors. An alternate method is to vary P by changing the S/M ratio of the fuel, keeping the fuei loading and moderation uniform. for certain choices of reactor and reflector, a comparatively small variation in P is necessary. Two-group equations are included for a uniform loading, uniform thermal flux, and uniform moderation. Two critical equations are also included along with an example of flux flattening by variation of P. (J.R.D.)
