THE EFFECT OF ROLLING PARAMETERS ON THE PROPERTIES OF BERYLLIUM SHEET METAL

Journal Article · · Am. Soc. Metals, Trans. Quart.
OSTI ID:4740704
The effect of roll reduction parameters on the properties of beryllium sheet of two different chemical compositions was investigated. The effect of production history associated with breakdown and final rolling temperatures and reduction ratio is described as it affected both the metallurgical structure and the associated mechanical properties. The effects of breakdown temperature, final rolling temperature, and reduction ratio on the structure and properties of beryllium sheet were also studied. Lower rolling temperatures produced highest ultimate tensile strength, highest ductility, and finer grain structures. Slightly higher strengths were obtained with materials containing greater amounts of beryllium oxide. (auth)
