DECAY SCHEMES OF In$sup 116$ (13 sec): A 0$sup +$ LEVEL IN Sn$sup 11$$sup 6$

Journal Article · · Phys. Letters
The gamma spectrum associated with the decay of ground state In/sup 116g/ was investigated to determine if excited states of Sn/sup 116/ can be reached from In/sup 116g/. The half life associated with intense lines observed at 0.45 and 1.27 Mev was measured to be 13 seconds, and the lines are associated with the decay of In/sup 116g/. The decay scheme is concluded to go to the 0/sup +/ ground state of Sn/sup 116/, to the 2/sup +/ first excited state at 1.27 Mev, and to a level at 1.72 Mev. The various decay schemes and energies are discussed, and the ratio of energies of the first 0/sup +/ and 2/sup +/ levels in even nuclei is plotted against mass number. (H.D.R.)
