A series of tests was performed to determine if appreciable losses occur through adsorption on the walls in the normal use of polyethylene bottles for the storage of radioactive solutions. The radioisotopes tested include Cs/sup 137/, Ce/sup 144/, Zr/sup 95/, I/sup 131/, Ru/sup 106/, and Ba/sup 140/. Results show that all the nuclides may be kept in solution by the addition of appropriate acid or carrier, except in the case of Ru. Ruthenium adsorbs appreciably on polyethylene and even at best 25% remains on the bottle wall. (C.H.)
