ECONOMICS OF THE 300 MWE ORGANIC MODERATED AND COOLED REACTOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Technical Report

OSTI ID:4735371
The unit energy cost of the 300-Mwe OMCR nuclear power plant was estimated, based on AEC ground rules. The analysis indicates that a plant of this size can be constructed for a cost of 0/kwe net, and that the estimated total energy cost from the plant under investor-owned public utility financing is 6.39 mills/kwh. This figure is competitive with energy costs from plants of comparable size in the higher fuel cost regions of the country. Data are also presented on the effect of other variables on energy cost. These include variables such as capacity factor, fuel element fabrication cost, fuel burnup, private fuel ownership, and fixed charges associated with municipally owned public utilities. (auth)
