HOT CANYON CRANE (Engineering Materials)
Hot-canyon cranes are used for installing, removing, and maintaining canyon process equipment. The crane design (221-F & H) presented is remotely controlled and has a 50-ton capacity. There is a specially shielded cab which houses the operator and controls. The cab has filtered, temperature-controlled air. There is also a 10-ton auxiliary hoist and two twin-drum hoist units. The trolley movement across the top of the main girders is 20 ft and is achieved by use of the main 71/2 hp motor or 1/6 hp gear motor through a 10 v gear assembly. The 71/2 hp motor is controlled by a five-step regalator that moves the trolley from a slow rate to 75 ft/min in either direction. The 1/6 hp gear motor moves the trolley at the rate of 1.4 ft/min in either direction. There are 15 CAPE units in this package consisting of 14 drawings and a 2-sheet description. (F.E.S.)
