THE ORIGIN OF COSMIC MUONS AND PHOTONS OF HIGH ENERGY AND THE HYPERON HYPOTHESIS (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Eksperim. i Teor. Fiz.
OSTI ID:4732780
The differential spectrum of cosmic muons of energy 10/sup 11/ to 10/sup 14/ ev is calculated on the assumption that the particle carrying away most of the energy (0.7 to 0.8) of the primary is a hyperon. The spectrum obtained is in good agreemert with experimental data. However, the calculated negative excess contradicts experimental data at an energy of approximates 100 Bev. It is shown that this discrepancy can be eliminated on the assumption that the distribution of generated hyperons by charge sign is due to statistical weight in isotopic space. Also calculated is the differential spectrum of gamma quanta of energy 10/sup 11/ to 10/sup 11/ ev at great height. (auth)
