PARAMETERS AFFECTING THE RESOLUTION OF A PROPORTIONAL COUNTER

Journal Article · · Intern. J. Appl. Radiation and Isotopes
Measurements of the dependence of the gas gain of a cylindrical proportional counter on the anode and cathode radii, anode voltage, and gas denstty are described. From these measurements, the effect on the resolution of variations in these parameters is calculated. A theoretical formula for the gas gain is derived, which is in agreement with the experimental results. (auth)
