STUDY OF THE REACTIONS F$sup 19$$($$alpha$,t)Ne$sup 20$ AT 18.5 Mev AND F$sup 19$(He$sup 3$,d)Ne$sup 20$ AT 13.0 Mev

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D

Angular distributions from the F/sup 19/( alpha ,t)Ne/sup 20/ and the particle groups leaving Ne/sup 20/ in its ground state and in its first excited state at 1.63 Mev. A direct interaction mechanism was indicated by the forward peaking and the oscillatory structure of all angular distributions. Butler's stripping theory was applied to the (He/sup 3/,d) data and the reduced widths obtained were compared with corresponding and the ( alpha ,t) cross sections it is suggested that the F/sup 19/( alpha ,t)Ne/sup 20/ reaction does not proceed by a stripping mechanism.
