THE REMOVAL OF NEUTRON POISONS, IN PARTICULAR $sup 135$Xe AND $sup 135$I, FROM AN AQUEOUS HOMOGENEOUS SUSPENSION REACTOR

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4730679

The removal of volatile and nonvolatile water-soluble and water- insoluble poisons from both the aqueous and steam phases of the heavy water system of an aqueous homogeneous one-region reactor is studied. Particular attention is devoted to the removal of I/sup 135/-Xe/sup 135/, but the removal of erosion and corrosion products, Sm/sup 149/, and other fission products is also considered. The reactor is considered to be fueled with ThO/sub 2/-UO/sub 2/ particles. (T.F.H.)
