Microwave Radiation from Plasmas

Journal Article · · Journal of the Physical Society of Japan

Observations were carried out in a microwave region in which the wavelength was comparable to or shorter than a dimension of the discharge tube. Incoherent (noise) radiation from plasmas that were semi-opaque or opaque was observed. Comparison between the electron temperature determined from microwave measurement and that from electrostatic probe measurement gave agreement. It was experimentally shown that the plasma oscillation in a hot cathode discharge tube gave rise to radiation. Obtainable power of this radiation was estimated about 0.1 mu w.
