RADIAL AND ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS OF ELECTRONS IN ELECTRON-PHOTON SHOWERS IN LEAD AND IN EMULSION ABSORBERS

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
Results for various electron radial and angular distribution functions are given for the cases of an electron primary energy of 1000 Mev and electron secondary energies greater than 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 Mev, with depths ranging from zero to 10 radiation lengths in lead and in emulsion absorbers. The calculations are carried out on the electronic digital computer SILLIAC using Monte Carlo methods. One thousand showers are followed in each absorber. Multiple scattering, collision losses, and the Compton effect are taken into account. Bethe-Heitler cross sections for low and high energies are used. (auth)
