CLAIM OF THE REACTOR INSURER AGAINST THE SUPPLIER OF NUCLEAR EQUIPMENT

The Federal Law on the Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy and the Protection against Radiation, passed by the Swiss legislature in 1959 became effective on July 1, 1960. This legislation is the counterpart of the U. S. Atomic Energy Act of 1954. Among other matters it regulates the liability of the operator of a nuclear plant for injuries caused to third parties by a nuclear incident. The law is reviewed for the situation of the insurer and supplier within the rules of plural liability and the liability of the supplier. (C.H.)
