/cap beta/-ABSORPTION AND GLASS TRANSITIONS IN POLYMERS

Journal Article · · J. Polymer Sci.
Beta absorption and glass transitions were investigated in specimens of amorphous polystyrene (free-radical polymerization), cis-1,4-polybutadiene, atactic poly- alpha -butene, atactic polypropylene, natural rubber, branched polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and ethylene-propylene and ethylene- 1- butene copolymers at different ethylene contents. The glass transition temperature values are tabulated. In polyethylene terephthalate and amorphous polystyrene, the transmitted activity-temperature coefficient changed, at the transition, in sign as well as in numerical value. All other polymers observed showed behavior corresponding to density changes. (P.C.H.)
