Journal Article · · Atomwirtschaft (West Germany) Changed to ATW, Atomwirtsch., Atomtech.

The Danish Atomic Energy Commission established a research center for the study and development of nuclear energy at Riso. There are three reactors in operation at the center; Dr-1, a small 2-kw homogeneous reactor used for training and special studies; DR-2, a 5-Mw reactor cooled and moderated by light water, used for radioisotope production, materials testing, and neutron diffraction experiments; and DR-3, a heavy water cooled and moderated 10-Mw reactor, used for irradiation of fuel samples of Dragon and for studies of graphite and uranium. The use of radioisotopes and radiation in agricultural research has received much emphasis. (J.S.R.)
