ANGULAR DISTRIBUTION OF BACK-SCATTERING OF GAMMA RAYS FROM SHIELDING MATERIALS

Journal Article · · Proc. Math. Phys. Soc. (U.A.R.)
OSTI ID:4725873
Results are given of an experimertal investigation on the back scatter at the front face of a thick scattering barrier irradiated by a uniform beam of rays. The study was made for three different geometrical conditions; the whole plane, the half plane, and the corner. The gamma rays used had energies in the range 0.884 to 1.25 Mev and the scattering material was ordinary concrete of density 2.4 g/cm/sup 3/. The results are discussed in the light of the theoretical treatment advanced by Corner and Liston and by Cave et al. (auth)
