ISOMERIC STATE IN Yb$sup 17$$sup 6$
In a search for further cases of K-isomerism, a new 11.7 plus or minus 0.5 sec gamma activity was found in irradiations of Yb metal with 14-15 Mev neutrons. On the basis of subsequent experiments, this activity was firmly assigned to an isomeric state in Yb/sup 176/. The cross section for formation of this isomer (by an Yb/sup 176/ + n reaction) was measured to be 5 plus or minus 2 mb at 14-15 Mev. (W.D.M.)
