A method was developed for the colorimetric determination of Th in thoriated W. The sample is treated with a mixture of hydrofiuoric and nitric acids, and the solution is evaporated to dryness. The residue is fused with potassium bisulfate, one ammoniacal precipitation is made, the thorium hydroxide is dissolved in a mixture of sodium tartrate and hydrochloric acid, and the Th is determined by the reagent thoron.
