A program was written for the IBM-709 to study the transmission through a linear magnetic system of a beam of primary particles and the secondaries emitted in flight. An attempt was made to make a tool more rapid, more flexible, and more complete than those previously written. The beam guide, the three types of problems, the formulas utilized, and formulation of the data for the computer are discussed. In conclusion, some examples are given. (J.S.R.)
