Title: DEVELOPMENT OF A BUBBLE CHAMBER DATA ANALYSIS USING SEVERAL SCANNING- MEASURING-PROJECTORS ON-LINE TO A DIGITAL COMPUTER

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods

A prototype scanning measuring projector was constructed and connected to the direct data channel of an IBM 709 computer. The first set of tests made consisted in measuring straight wires stretched over the surface of the image piane. A preliminary version of a program for measuring actual bubble chamber tracks was written and a few tracks were measured. A smooth curve through measured points was determined to an accuracy of 2 in the film plane. Programs for carrying out the ingestion of data and the on-line analysis are being developed. Calculations indicate that the 709 could do a fairly thorough analysis of the output from 3 to 8 on-line scanningmeasuring projectors. (A.G.W.)
