Particle and suspension characterization

Journal Article · · Advances in Chemistry Series
Particle and suspension characterization is essential for studying particle behavior in suspension and identifying interparticle interactions and association specifically for floc and aggregate and floc morphology. Microscopy remains the benchmark technique against which list others are compared, especially for particle sizing. It is particularly useful for identifying interparticle interactions and associations specifically for floc or aggregate characterization and determination of floc morphology, which are difficult using other techniques. Therefore, microscopic methods are discussed in more detail than other methods. Aside from microscopic methods, scattering techniques offer the best alternative means to probe interparticle aggregation without disturbing the suspension. 61 refs., 39 figs., 3 tabs.
