SOLAR WIND INTERACTIONS. Final Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4719883
Eleven journal publications on effects of solar wind on magnetosphere, shape of geomagnetic field in solar wind, and interplanetary effects are presented. Topics covered include: formation of the geomagnetic storm main-phase ring current; some effects of diamagnetic ring currents on Van Allen radiation; stability of interface between the solar wind and the geomagnetic field; possible energy source for the aurora; hydromagnetic emissions, x-ray bursts, and electron bunches; gross character of the geomagnetic field in the solar wind; interaction of the terrestrial field with solar corpuscular radiation; diurnal variation of cosmic radiation intensity produced by a solar wind; and termination of solar wind and co-rotation of solar magnetic field.
