THE MEASUREMENT OF THE PROTON-PROTON DIFFERENTIAL SCATTERING CROSS SECTION AT 210 Mev

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4717830
The proton-proton differential scattering cross section at 210 Mev was measured with as great an accuracy and over as wide an angular range as possible. The experiment was done by measuring the relative cross section from 30 un. Concent 85% to 90 un. Concent 85% c.m., and by normalizing it to a value extrapolated from the absolute measurements of other people at near-by energies. The results of the relative measurement show greater precision than had previously been achieved at 240 Mev. The shape of the differential cross section shows good agreement with the phenomenological predictions of Bryan and Hamada, and with the energy dependent solutions 1(16) obtained from the phase shift analysis of MacGregor, Moravcsik, and Stapp. (Dissertation Abstr.)
