A fuel element assembly with an improved end enclosure is designed for pressurized water reactors. The assembly comprises a casing containing a fuel rod bundle and forming a coolant flow channel. At one end of the casing, an internal, removable closure member penetrated by a nozzle is provided with locking means. A compression spring is used to keep the closure member in the locked position.
