The general laws governing surface boiling heat transfer, the mechanism of nucleation, and the influence of flow velocity, subcooling, pressure, dissolved gases, heat transfer surface, and low-boiling additives on the rate of heat transfer and burnout are analyzed. The apparatus built for the investigation of these problems is described, and the results obtained are discussed. (auth)
