The survival ration utilized for a two-week shelter habitability study proved nutritionally adequate for a group of healthy, young male subjects. The major source of nutrients was a commercial survival ratl on cracker prepared by the National Biscuit Company. The crackers were supplemented with a variety of jams, condensed soups, peanut butter, sugar, and Pream. Data are presented on the composition of the survival cracker, acceptability of the crackers, daily caloric intake, water balance in the subjects during the two-week shelter trial, and clinical findings on the subjects at the beginning and end of the two-week shelter trial.
