DETECTION OF SUBMICROSCOPIC AEROSOLS BY MEANS OF CONTINUAL RECOIL LABELING WITH RADON DECAY PRODUCTS (in German)

Journal Article · · Staub (West Germany) Changed to Staub - Reinhalt. Luft
OSTI ID:4714511
A method is described enabling the activation of aerosols by the fission products of radon to such an extent that a continuous measuring of the concentration of aerosols by defining the radioactivity can be performed. For such activation radon is used, embedded in the wall of a pipe, from which the Po/ sup 218/ atoms dissipate by repulsion into the gasstream, lead through the pipe, and thus adhere to the aerosols. Two devices for defining the activity of the aerosols are described, and the sensitivity and applicability of the process of measurement are dealt with. (auth)
