INFRARED SPECTRA OF METAL CHELATE COMPOUNDS OF HEXAFLUOROACETYLACETONE

The infrared spectra of metal chelate compounds of hexafluoroacetylacetone were determined. The metals were Rh, Cr, Fe, Al, Th, Ni, Co, Nd, Zn, Mn, Fe, Zr, and Cu. Melting points were also measured. The complexes were prepared by two methods: addition of an aqueous solution of the neutralized ligand to an aqueous solution of the cation and addition of the ligand directly to a suspension of the anhydrous metal chloride in carbon tetrachloride.
