THE TEXTURE OF HOT-PRESSED BERYLLIUM OXIDE

Journal Article · · Journal of Nuclear Materials (Netherlands)
When beryllium oxide is hot-pressed above 1500 deg C, a weak basal plane texture develops with the normals to these planes aligning themselves at right angles to and randomly about the hot-pressing direction. The strength of the texture is pressure-dependent and texturing is accompanied by extensive grain growth. The effect is tentatively attributed to the anisotropic elastic properties of beryllium oxide. (auth)
