THE SCATTERING OF SLOW NEUTRONS BY COMPLEX MAGNETIC STRUCTURES

Elastic scattering by magnetic substances possessing complex magnetic structures is examined. General expressions are obtained for the cross section and the polarization for this kind of scattering, assuming that the incident neutrons also are polarized. The problem of reconstructing the actual magnetic structure from experimental data was analyzed. Formulas are given for calculating the cross sections and polarizations in a number of specific structures. (auth)
