TRANSVERSE DRIFT OSCILLATIONS OF AN INHOMOGENEOUS PLASMA (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Eksperim. i Teor, Fiz.
OSTI ID:4713438
It is shown that in an inhomogeneous plasma in a constant magnetic field, waves exist that move across the magnetic field, whose polarization is the same as that of the ordinary wave but whose frequency is much lower than the plasma electron frequency. Such waves are localized in regions in which the plasma pressure is not uniform; their phase velocity significantly depends on the velocity of the Larmor electron drift. (auth)
