The Institutt for Atomenergi was founded in 1948 and its first activity was the construction of JEEP, the first reactor outside the great atomic powers. Since that time, the projects undertaken include the Halden Boiling Water Reactor, NORA Zero Power Reactor, and JEEP-II. The spectral shift control system is one of the principal studies at the NORA Reactor. At Kjeller, studies of the various steps in the fuel cycle are being made. Radioisotopes are also produced there. (J.S.R.)
