Distribution of Be/sup 7/ between water and cyclohexane in the presence of excess acetylacetone at 25 deg was used to study the formation and hydrolysis of complexes between pH 4 and pH 11. At zero ionic strength, stability constants are log BETA /sub 1/ 7.96 and log BETA /sub 2/ 14.67. The mono-complex, BeL(H/ sub 2/O)/s ub 2/, undergoes two stages of acid dissociation with pk/sub 1/ = 6.4 and pk/sub 2/ = 9.8. (auth)
