EMERGENCY COOLING OF A NUCLEAR SUPERHEATER REACTOR

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4712901
A device is described for removing the after-glow heat in case of failure in the main circuit. The device consists of a separate emergency circuit, an emergency condensator, and a fast-acting vaive located in the duct between the nuclear reactor and the emergency condensator. In series with the said valve there is a second controllable valve. The opening of this second valve is continually adjusted in correspondence with the amount of steam flowing momentarily through the consumer. (Gmelin Inst.)
