D-Galactose-U-C14,4-T was prepared from D-glucoseU-C14 by conversion to 2,3: 5,6-di-O-isopropylidene Ddized to di-O-isopropylidene-4-keto D- glucose-U-C14 dimethyl acetal, which was subsequentiy reduced with lithium aluminum tritide, yielding the corresponding galactose and glucose derivatives from which the free sugars were obtained after hydrolysis.
