PREPARATION OF MIXED COMPLEXES OF THORIUM WITH CUPFERRON AND 4'-NITRO-2,2'- DIOXY-4-METHYL-5-ISOPROPYL AZOBENZENE (in Russian)

Although systems with two different ligands, including a cyclic complex former, were well investigated, considerably less attention was devoted to the study of systems with two polydentate ligands. For this reason, the mixed cyclic complex of Th(IV) with cupferron and 4'-nitro-2,2'-dioxy4-methyl-5-isopropyl azobenzene was synthesized by mixing the reagents in a solution of chloroform. The final product consisted of fine, dark-violet, needle-shaped crystals. Chemical analysis and molecular weight determination indicated that the molecular ratio of the compound is Th: cupferron: azo compound = 1: 2: 1. The coordination number of the Th in the complex is probably 8. (TTT)
