Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations for a fully ionized gas consisting of protons and electrons, derived from the Boltzmann equation with the help of a modified Coulomb potential, are used. MHD problems in the one and twofluid model are treated, and the effects in the two-fluid model that are absent in the one- fluid model are investigated. The two models are applied to the forced flow of an inviscid, conducting fluid between parallel plates with a magnetic field normal to the direction of the flow. The problem is also considered when the flow is engendered by the uniform motion of one of the plates in its own plane. The flow along a thin plate with a wavy profile on both sides is also considered. The one-fluid model is applied to the flow of a conducting fluid along a thin plate, waveshaped on both sides, in the presence of a magnetic field parallel to the plate. The unsteady phenomena occurring when the plate, moving at times t < o with the fluid in the direction of the magnetic field, is suddenly brought to rest at time t = o. The two-fluid model is also applied to this problem. (C.E.S.)
