The totai cross section of rare gases as a function of neutron energy in a range between 3 x 10/sup -3/ to 25 x 10/sup -3/ ev was measured. For these elements the law of total crosssection variation can be interpreted and this permits the determination of absorption and scattering cross sections. (auth)
