ION-EXCHANGE PROPERTIES OF ZIRCONYL PHOSPHATES. PART III. INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON TRACER ION EQUILIBRIA

The influence of temperature on the ion exchange reactions of zirconyl phosphate in the H/sup +/ form with Rb, Cs, Ca, Sr, Ce, and Eu was studied. It appears that Rb and Cs are very strongly adsorbed at room temperature but easily eluted at 80 to 100 un. Concent 85% C. The other nuclides investigated do not show such properties. The thermodynamic quantities DELTA G, DELTA H, and DELTA S of the reactions are derived and throw some light on the exchange mechanism of the different ions studied, particularly of the alkali metal ions.
