VACUUM TECHNIQUES IN MASS SPECTROMETRY EMPLOYING TITANIUM PUMPS (in French)

Journal Article · · Vide (France) Changed to Vide, Couches Minces
OSTI ID:4709783

Vacuum techniques in mass spectrometry are discussed. A description is given of an original demountable vacuum seal with a teflon gasket, a cold trap, a leak, and a stopcock, all bakable. The pumping of a mass spectrometer with titanium-ion pumps was studied on residual spectrum and on isotopic ratio determination of CO/sub 2/ and UF/sub 6/. The low helium pumping speed of titanium pumps was applied to show it is possible to detect as low as 2.10/sup -3/ ppm of helium in a mixture. (auth)
