STATISTICAL PROPERTIES OF THE EIGENVALUES AND EIGENVECTORS OF A NUCLEAR MODEL

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4708417
Statistical properties of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the energy matrices of a nuclear model due to Raz are examined. Results for the eigenvalue distribution and the eigenvector component distribution differ from those for the matrices previously studied in this context. The differences correspond to the lack of plus-minus symmetry in the off-diagonal elements of the matrices, and to the preponderance of zero elements. Four different types of eigenvalue spacing distribution are compared with theoretical curves. The repulsion of energy levels is less marked in these results than in the theoretical curves. (auth)
