The electron capture decay of 144 d Dy/sup 159/ to Tb/sup 159/ was investigated with magnetic spectrometers and scintillation spectroscopy. Excited levels in Tb/sup 159/ having the energies 348.1 kev level is suggested to be the expected 5/2 + STA413! intrinsic state, while the 58.0 and 137.5 kev levels are the members of the 3/2 + STA411! ground state rotational band. From the electron capture transition probability to the 348.1 kev level a total decay energy of 367 kev is deduced. A type of anomalous focusing in the intermediate image beta ray spectrometer is discussed in connection with the measurement of the very weak electron spectrum. (auth)
