Transport phenomena in rarefied gases are treated by the method of expansion in the eigenfunctions of the linearized Boltzmann collision operator. The eigenvalues for a Maxwell gas, and the collision eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for a rigid-sphere gas are evaluated. (auth)
